- If replacing an existing unit, drain the old oil completely, remove mounting fasteners, and carefully lower the old gearbox. Photograph the orientation and note any shim washers used.
- Insert all mounting bolts finger-tight first, then torque to specification in a cross (star) pattern to ensure even clamping. Typical torque: 80-120 Nm depending on bolt size.
- With the implement raised and blades clear of the ground, engage the PTO at low idle speed. Listen for any unusual noise and observe for vibration or oil leaks.
- Verify that the mower implement safety chain or restraint is properly connected to prevent the gearbox from contacting the ground if the three-point hitch fails.
- Apply a thin, even bead of RTV silicone sealant to the mounting flange face if a pre-cut gasket is not included with the new gearbox.
- Connect the PTO drive shaft to the gearbox input spline. Push the shaft on fully and verify it telescopes freely through the complete range of three-point hitch travel.
- After the first 10 hours of operation, re-torque all mounting bolts to specification and verify oil level. Perform the first oil drain and refill at 50 hours.
